Hosting Features
The specification of the hosting server is as follows:
- OS: Ubuntu 9.10 Karmic Koala x86_64
- CPU: Quad-Core AMD Opteron Processor
- Webserver: lighttpd 1.4.22
- Database: MySQL 5.1.37
- Scripting: PHP 5.2 (with support for gd, curl and sendmail)
More than sufficient hard drive space is available and extra RAM is negotiable if required. SFTP access is provided to securely upload your website (see FAQ page).
On top of all this, there is a preposterously high level of uptime (almost but not quite exactly 100%) so do not expect your website to be down (unless I have already told you that something special is happening).
Other services
I can also provide domain names and manage them on your behalf from 123-reg if you do not wish to sort these out yourself. See the FAQ page for details of my recommended DNS settings if you do wish to sort domain names out yourself.
Whether or not I manage your domain names, I am solely responsible for setting up subdomains and MySQL databases on my server for you, you cannot have any access at this time.
I recommend the use of Google Apps Standard Edition (which is free) to provide email and other online collaborative tools.
